Happy Boy

Not too much to report, just wanted to post a cute picture and say that Ajax is developing into quite the happy boy.  Dave and I are just so proud.  Though he has now come to dislike car rides and has taken to screaming throughout most of the drive.  My mom suggested that Ajax now knows that the car puts him to sleep and will do anything to fight it.  I think she may be right as I’ve noticed him fighting sleep more frequently now, where he doesn’t want to miss a thing.

Graduating

Well we had quite the busy weekend!  Today Ajax and I were up early, playing and talking, my mom and cousin came over and we went to my Grandpa Nader’s to visit.  We then ran to the grocery store to pick up some stuff for my cousin Ryan’s graduation party.  I dropped Ajax at home with Dave so that he could take a good nap, then my mom and I helped set up for the party.  The party was quite the hit and Ajax was both mesmerized by all the loud Italians and slightly intimidated.  It seems that when we are out with a lot of new people and sounds Ajax definitely wants to kind of watch what’s going on from the comfort of either my lap or Dave’s.  I also notice that he isn’t as loud and outgoing when we’re out.  For example at home he was laughing and talking all day, but at the party it was a bit difficult for an unfamiliar face to pull out his smile.  Oh, on another note- I think Ajax is going to be left handed.

The graduation party was also the first time that me and my cousins were all able to get our babies together; it’s neat how close in age all our kids are.   Below is a picture of us all- Left: Jillian with her son Gavin (born Nov. 2008); Ajax and I (born April 3, 2009); June and her two daughters – Emma (June 2009) and Jordan (age 2); and Rachel and Alex (born April 8, 2009).  The only cousin we’re missing is my family in Seattle, Washington- baby Daniel (April 2008)!

Back in Business

Well I should be back in business with this blog thing now.  The Dell has a new harddrive and Dave was finally able to reinstall all of it’s inner workings (this after a terrible storm that left us without power for over 24 hours).

Some new things- Ajax is now holding his head up and looking around.  He now wants to be carried around, either on your shoulder so he can look behind you, or facing outwards to see where he’s going.  He likes to explore new things (the other day I showed him everything in our pantry and he was amazed by a glass jar of pesto).  He still doesn’t care for tummy time, but it’s part of the day.  He has also been finding his hands and will stare at his fists and then jam them into his mouth (sometimes he misses and gets his eye or check).  He’s been getting up about once a night again, but not at the same time each night, so it makes me think that it won’t be too hard to get him back to where he was sleeping through the night, but who knows.

Chicken and Ravioli

(Dave said I needed to redraft this entry wasn’t making much sense.  I must have been pretty tired).

Well, I dropped the ball on father’s day.  We ended up having cereal for dinner after Ajax went to bed and I never made it to the store to get him a gift.  On Monday, however, I made up for it by picking up chicken and ravioli from Primos Pizza (Dave’s fav) and I picked up a movie for him – The Road Warrior (now he can stop saying- the Iotola of Rock n Rolla!).  I also wanted to get him the original Planet of the Apes and Mad Max Beyond Thuder dome, however, the kid at Target looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if they were in stock.  How can you not know these movies?  Kids.

Other than that it was a laid back father’s day weekend.  We had a BBQ at my parent’s on Saturday and Sunday we bummed around the house.  I didn’t  feel like doing much as it threatened to storm all day.  We did make it outside for a walk; however, it was so hot and muggy we had to practically drag the dog during our walk.  On a computer note, we received the new hard drive from Dell today and I should be up and running with photos tomorrow or Wednesday (yea!).

Updates

Hello Hello-

I’d like to say sorry there are no photos, but our Dell’s hard drive died and we won’t get a new one till next week.  But I thought I’d post some updates.  Dave has started taking Ajax to the sitter in the morning and picking him up in the evening.  Ajax is settling in wonderfully to this new routine.  He is definitly a child that likes routine (his father’s son).   We have also had a few nights where Ajax has slept through the night (8 pm to 6 am).  The first time he did it I hardly slept as I kept listening for him and watching the monitor.  I tell you what those few nights of whole sleep have been the best thing ever.

I also think that Ajax is very close to discovering his hands.  He keeps batting at dangling items.  He also seems to want to put everything into his mouth (though he can’t get them there by himself).  It’s pretty funny.

Anywho-  I should be able to upload pictures next week.

Sunday at the Naders

Today I finally took Ajax to my grandpa Nader’s home for dinner (it’s common for about 20 family members, sometimes more/sometimes less, to go to my grandpa’s home for an early dinner every Sunday).  Till now I’d been visiting during the week, as a Sunday seemed to stressful with so many people and I’ve noticed that Ajax does not like to be passed around.  It was a full house and Ajax seemed mesmerized by all the people and noise and did very well taking it all in.  I guess he needs to get used to it… that’s his family  🙂

I’ve also found it hilarious how much he has been “talking.”  I swear today he said, hi and wow.  He also seems intrigued by all the different sounds he can make.  What a little fellow.

Growing

Something funny Ajax has started doing- sticking out his tongue at you.  Dara was babysitting Ajax this week and she discovered that if you stick your tongue out at him, he’ll concentrate really hard and then stick his tongue out at you!  He won’t play this game with me, but loves to play it with his grandma and Mr. Dave.  I keep trying though.

We also had the first situation in which Ajax screamed in public.  I wasn’t there for the event, Mr. Dave was solo.   Dave had the day off so that he could watch Ajax.  It also turned out that he had a client meeting in Ypsi (Dave does web design on the side).  He told the client that he was free, but that he had the nino.  The client said- Oh bring him along!  Dave said Ajax was good about half the time and the other half with inconsolable screaming. lol.  It all turned out well though.

2 Month Checkup

Hello Hello!  Ajax had his 2 month checkup today, big event.  My mother-in-law, Dara, was able to come with me, which was great (she’s a nurse).  The Doctor examined Ajax and exclaimed that he was indeed perfect in every way.  Well he didn’t use those words exactly, but did say that Ajax was healthy and everything looked good.  Ajax weighed 13 lbs, 3 oz (putting him in the 75th percentile for weight) and was 24.25 in long (putting him in the 90th percentile for length).  Dara and I both agree that he’s actually longer than that as the nurse didn’t really measure him accurately.  Ajax also received his vacinations- three shots and one oral.  He was a true champ and did wonderfully.  I was worried that the shots would put him in quite the mood for the rest of the day, but he was actually in a great mood and very smiley.

Updates

Sorry it has been a while since my last update, however, a lot has been going on!   Also Dave has been waging war against our stupid Dell so I haven’t been able to get onto a computer till now.

I started work last Monday and then on Wednesday went to Vegas for a work conference till Sunday.  It was very tough, but we all survived.  My mom and mother-in-law were nice enough to babysit for us, which worked out wonderfully.  Mr. Dave had the nino Friday night and Saturday all by himself and did wonderfully.  It can be quite stressful taking care of the nino by yourself.   The conference went well and I learned a lot, however, it is tiring to be around attorneys all the time.  I did visit the wax museum, which was both exciting and creepy.  I only gambled, briefly, while waiting for my flight to board … and I lost a whole 14 bucks.  OH, I did see the actress who plays Phyllis on the Office, which was cool (I don’t know her real name).

Ajax is getting bigger every day and is still maintaining his wonderful sleep schedule, getting up only once a night to eat.  He has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow for his big TWO month checkup.  I’ll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow.  On a visiting note, Ajax did attend his first wedding shower (and was quite the cutie pie), he was very well behaved.  We also took him over to our friends home, the first “friend” visit (till 2 weeks ago we had limited our visits to family).  Ajax again did very well and was in a great mood.  Though he did spit up on the couch (sorry Mary and James).
