Birthdays

At my work your birthday is (of course) a holiday and you get the day off.  So, today Ajax and I spent the day bumming around the house.  Ajax mainly caught up on his sleep from his busy weekend and I got the laundry done so that Dave and I could have something to wear this week.   Ajax has now added “Da Da” to his vocabulary and that was his word of the day today (Dave was very proud).  I got him on video talking and thought I’d post it.  I also pulled out the exersaucer again and this time around Ajax really seemed to get the hang of it and tired himself out playing with it.  On a side note, Dave finally invited me to participate in a fantasy football league.  I’ve never done this before, yet for some reason had a very strong desire to play (though I know nothing of football).  I let the computer pick my team and Dave said I ended up with 4 running backs… whatever, I’m cool with that.

West Side

Dave, Ajax, and I had our first road trip.  We headed out Saturday morning to the west side of Michigan to visit friends.  It was about a 2 – 2.5 hr drive to Allegan where we visited with friends, Heather and Jeff and their 2 daughters.  We had a great time hanging out and seeing their new one who is almost a month younger than Ajax.   Their older daughter took quite a liking to Dave; I think I have competition!    We left Allegan around 7ish and got a hotel room closer to Grand Rapids.  This was our first time in a hotel with the nino.  We were very worried, but he did great.  We set up his pack n play and he slept great all night.  He even let us sleep in till 7 am.  On Sunday we decided to drive out to Grand Valley’s campus before heading to another friends house.  Grand Valley is where Dave and I met; we were amazed at how much the campus had changed it is expanding like crazy and there were parts that honestly when I was there were only woods and now there’s these new dorms.  After checking out campus we headed to visit Heather and Andy and their 2 children (Heather actually introduced Dave and I in college.  Thank you again!).  We hung out at their house, had a great dinner, all around good times, and then headed home around 5.  The drive home was a little rough, due to traffic, but we made it home safe and sound and are feeling pretty proud at the moment.

Opinionated baby

As it is only a matter of time before my son can speak in real words and therefore voice his opinion, I am greatly enjoying his current baby talk.  I am honestly amazed.  He will carry on and on and look at you for confirmation that, yes you understand everything he is telling you and obviously agree.  It’s a hoot.  His favorite word now is definitely “MA”.  He yells it in the car, before he falls asleep, and talking to his toys.  MA MA MA!  Today when I picked him up from Dave’s cousin (who is watching him every Wed), she said, oh he’s certainly got ma down. lol.

Sitting up

Ok, one last video I promise.  My aunt Terri said that Ajax has been sitting for short periods of time- about 10-20 sec., he hasn’t done it yet for us, though we keep practicing.

Talking weekend

I know I posted once today, but thought I’d do a brief weekend recap and post some cute pics.  My mom babysat on Friday and Dave and I were able to do dinner and a movie; it was a great date night.  On Saturday we bummed around, did some shopping, and then went to a BBQ at Dave’s cousins.  Very good time all around.  On Sunday we headed to my Grandpa Nader’s house for dinner.   Ajax is definitely practicing being loud as he was yell-talking to be sure he was noticed by all the aunts/uncles/cousins, lol.  On a side note, I’ve been all about posting little movies as Dave got me one of those flip video cameras for my birthday and I’ve had a blast playing around with it.  Overall, a very good weekend, much to short, but that’s always how it goes!

Ma ma MA

It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m already in my PJs.  We’ve been visiting and shopping today and with the weather being cool and rainy, now that I’m home, I’m done for the day.  I have some shows on the DVR and bought Tropic Thunder at Target, so my afternoon is now planned.  I also bought a Magic Bullet as I have it in my mind that I’m going to make my own baby food.  Anywho!   I just put Ajax down for a nap, as shopping and socializing really tired him out, and before he fell asleep he laid in bed talking to himself.  He’s now prone to saying- ma ma ma, though has yet to connect that with me.  I managed to get it on tape and find it so cute.  It’s crazy that he’s going to be talking soon.

Splashing

Hello!  Sorry it has been a bit since my last update but I’ve been busy.  For example last night after the kiddo went to bed I started watching a show about female body builders and then a show about people who are obsessed with their pets.  Well, needless to say my night was spent.  Tonight Ajax discovered that if he kicks his feet in the tub he splashes water all over the place.  Sure this is hilarious for Dave to watch, but when you’re the one knelt down next to the tub it isn’t as amusing. lol.  By the end of his bath there was hardly any water left in the tub.   Ajax has also been trying to imitate sounds and his voice rises and falls, mimicking the intonations of those around him.  I really think he’s going to talk early.

Ajax loves this bunny my Aunt Lynda got for him. He'll suck on it's arms and cover his face with it when he's playing shy.

The Lake

Today was a lake day.  It was great.  I’ve been complaining for a few weeks now about how I hadn’t been swimming all summer.  We have family friends who have a house on a lake in Commerce Township (about 45 min. from our house) and after getting lunch with my parents we all headed up there.  We had some BBQ, went swimming, played Rummikube, and all around had a good time.  These were days that I remember having as a kid (as my family was a total water/boating/tubing/fishing family) and I cannot wait for Ajax to enjoy them as well… That is if he ever gets over his intense hatred of water.   As his afternoon schedule was off I was a little concerned about how he would react, but he did great.  He’s such a happy and easy going baby.

Batman

Has anyone seen the Celebrity Jeopardy skit on SNL?  The one where Michael Keaton answered every question with – I am Batman.  Anywho, from time to time Dave and I will say that line from SNL, thinking we are truly hilarious.  The other night when we were joking around, Ajax, as a true Indish, started cracking up.  He seems to think “Batman” is one of the funniest words he has ever heard.  Sure we now sound a little odd walking around Target whispering- Batman- to our 4 month old, but I really could care less.

Second Video

I took this video tonight of Ajax playing in his chair.  He’s gotten really coordinated and seemed to enjoy hitting the toy repeatedly… then of course he got frustrated.
