House Arrest

I’m a home-body, so staying around the house doesn’t bother me; however, yesterday when Ajax and I couldn‘t leave because of his pink eye/ear infection I started to go a little stir crazy.  I cleaned the house, did the laundry, and we also worked on crawling (still non to report, but a lot of rolling/scooting going on).  My friend Mari came to visit which was great and after Ajax went to bed I went to the grocery store and Target just to get out of the house.

This ear infection is worse than last time and our nights have been pretty rough.  For the last three nights he has been up multiple times, needless to say Dave and I are very tired.

Tomorrow we head up north to visit Dave’s family and we won’t be home till Sunday.

For some reason Ajax declared war on his wood giraffe and airplane blanket. It was pretty funny.
Still waging war.
Looking concerned, yet triumphant.
... and now onto other things.

Pink eye and an ear infection

Yesterday my dad babysat Ajax, as Dave and I had to work, and took him to see his Doctor (Thank you DAD!).  Ajax does in fact have pink eye and on top of that an ear infection in his right ear.  Of course.   The Doc. put him on a stronger antibiotic and ordered Motrin every 6 hours.  Poor little guy.  They also weighed Ajax and he is just over 20 lbs.  For some reason I thought he’d weigh more…

Ajax loves "sips", but hasn't really figured it out yet.

Playing

Thought I’d do one more update before my weekend comes to a close!  I still think Ajax has pink eye, however, Dave now has his doubt as the eye isn’t really all that pink.  Oh well, we shall let the Doctor decide tomorrow.  Because we were unsure if it was in fact pink eye we stayed home today… so no visiting, no shopping; it’ll be a shame if it’s pink eye as we have friends visiting from Boston and family in from England.

Playing the stacking game.
The water bottle is one of his favorite toys. Dave was giving him sips.

Christmas Weekend

This was a mellow out weekend after the holiday rush.  Only I left the house on Saturday (as I wanted to check out the after xmas sales… not much to report there) for an hour or so, Dave and Ajax never even got dressed, and we just ate and played all day!  Ajax just wants to walk around the house and demands that you hold his little hands so that he can explore.  He was very excited about the dishwasher for some reason.  Also, if I’m walking him, he also wants to “find” Dave or have Dave follow him.  This makes for a very sore back.

It also appears that Ajax may have pink eye.  I have no idea where he would have picked it up, but I noticed it yesterday and this morning I’m pretty sure it’s pink eye.  Of course it’s Sunday and the Doc. isn’t open.  Great.  I tried to put a warm compress on it and honestly you would think I was torturing the baby.

Playing at his table.
Putting together Ajax's toy. The toys will only get more complicated!
He wasn't to sure about this riding toy, but he did like to open and close the "trunk"
Snack time. Puffs, banana pieces, and apple slices- yum!

Table Fun

Ajax got one of those learn and grow tables that sing and make noise and light up.  He loves it!  Thanks Aunt Liz.

Christmas!

Well Ajax had his first Christmas!  He is now a present opening pro!   For Christmas Eve we had people over our house- eight in total, plus our three,  making for a very crowded little house, but oh so much fun.  We had my family and my aunt Liz’s family over for dinner.  My mom and Dave cooked, so dinner was fantastic!  It was very nice for everyone to come to our house, making it so much easier with Ajax.

On Christmas Morning Ajax opened his presents and honestly he was so excited we couldn’t get him to nap all morning.  He just wanted to play and play.  After going to my grandpa Nader’s house for an hour we came home, fed him lunch, and he crashed for over two hours.  We then headed to my cousin’s house for our second Christmas event (my dad’s side of the family).   Ajax did so well over my cousin’s home.  He played with the other children and smiled at everyone.  We got home about 8:30  and just got him into bed and he is out like a light!  Merry Christmas!

My Aunt Liz and Ajax. This was the first time we used the high chair that we got from the shower. I wanted to free up another chair, Ajax loved sitting in the kitchen.

Taffy Pull

Yesterday Ajax and I met Dave at his work for lunch.  Dave took Ajax on a tour of his office and introduced him to all his coworkers.  Ajax was very good and smiled at everyone.

We also had a taffy pull over my grandpa’s house with a few of my cousins.  A little bit about my mom’s family- she’s number 9 out of 15.  All 15 siblings have at least one child, and the majority of those children have at least one child.  Till Ajax, I was the oldest grandchild without a child of my own!  In total I believe there are 90 plus grand and great-grand children in the Nader clan… we’ve lost count.

Dave’s friend Jamie also stayed over last night on his way home from VA.  They stayed up late and made it to level 5 of Mario Bros. 3.  Very exciting!

Baby Group

Because I had the day off  I was able to take Ajax to his baby class.  It was great and we had a ton of fun.  I was introduced to everyone as “Ajax’s momma” which was just so cute.  I guess I’m officially known as “Ajax’s mom,” welcome to the rest of my life eh?   The other parents were very nice and Ajax played well with all the other kids, though he was a little clinging… or maybe I was, I was just so happy to be there with him.

Ajax is the youngest in the class though he’s almost as big as the other kids who range from a year to 18 mos.  I don’t often see Ajax next to other babies, so it surprises me when I see him next to other kids and realize that wow, he really is very tall!   My cousin and her family are also in from England so they too were at the baby class, which just added to the fun!

After class Ajax and I crashed at home.  We then had a friend over for dinner who was visiting from Chicago.  My dinner was a bit off, I just couldn’t coordinate the cooking of all the pieces to the dinner – the broccoli was a little overdone, the meatloaf could’ve cooked for a few more minutes, and the biscuits were just right, though I almost let them burn.   My friend, Kristen, said that everything was great!

I have to pull a photo from the stock footage of Ajax… I was too busy having fun playing with him today to take any!

Sitting in front of the tree playing.

Nintendo

Dave has a Wii and on it you can apparently purchase the old Nintendo games we used to play as a kid (think early 90s).  Dave recently bought Mario Bros. 3 and we’ve played it a few nights after putting Ajax to bed.  It’s amazing how much I remember about this silly game… yet don’t ask me anything regarding geometry or physics that’s been pushed to the way side.

Ajax helping me make dinner. I steamed carrots and brochilli for him and he actually ate a little of each!
The basket. Still his favorite toy.
