Snow and Sledding

Yesterday we got up early and headed out to Brooklyn to visit my parents and to meet their boarders.  My folks currently have a family of five from California living with them while they look for a house of their own in and around the Lansing area.   I had a very good time looking at houses on-line with them, while Dave tried to get my mom’s printer connected, and Ajax ran around chasing dogs and playing.

We of course went down to the barn see Frannie, Ajax’s favorite horse, and Dave even took Ajax sledding.  Now I must admit, I didn’t want to let Ajax go down the hill because I’m overly paranoid about sledding, but Dave and my mom insisted it would be safe and they were of course right; Ajax had a wonderful time.  He sat on the sled all by himself and my mom caught him at the bottom of the hill.  He did great. Cole was right behind Ajax the entire time, up and down the hill; he’s very protective of Ajax.

While we were at my parent’s house we ended up getting hit with a terrible snow storm.  The weatherman predicted an inch, at the most, and we ended up getting eight.  Needless to say the drive home was horrible and in hindsight we should have just stayed the night, but we didn’t think the roads would be as bad as they were.  At one point I was merging onto the highway with an SUV on my tail, I was thinking this is not the weather for you to be tailgating me buddy, when all of a sudden- poof- the SUV wasn’t there any more, he’d hit a patch of ice and went right off the road, possibly taking the two cars behind him, with him.  It actually went like that all the way home.  We watched one car pass us, just to see him in a ditch two minutes later.   What is normally an hour drive took us two and a half hours.  Ajax who is feeling better was a ball of energy in the car and was none to happy in the car on the way home. This made for a already stressful drive, even more so.

We got home around 8 or so, and Ajax went right into bed for the night.  He is feeling better and is back to sleeping through the night, which is a relief.

Wheelbarrow fun.
Dave only took him 1/2 way up the hill.
Cole (the dog) was right behind Ajax the entire day and kept very close tabs on him.
Having fun in the snow.
Enjoying some of Dave's chili.
