Developments 2

Ok, here is a more recent update from this past weekend.

The first 1/2 of my trial is underway and tough mudder is next weekend.  I must admit I’ve been so preoccupied with the trial that the mudder has not really entered my mind.  I’m sure that will change when I’m up to my knees in mud wishing I’d put more training time in.   Dave and Ajax are going as well as spectators and I think they will have a ton of fun.  Ajax doesn’t really understand where we’re going, though I’ve shown him photos and videos, he keeps asking if he can stay at grandma and grandpas with Noomi.

This past weekend was very quiet.  Ajax went to visit my parents in Brooklyn on Friday.  Apparently they did a ton of tractor work, removed several trees and branches, played with the animals, went for a boat ride and did a little fishing and swimming and then to top it off had pizza and roasted marshmallows over an open fire.  As you can imagine Ajax didn’t really want to come home (not that I blame him) and was so upset and tired on Saturday when grandpa brought him home that he told me that he wanted to live with grandma and grandpa.  I told him that daddy and I would miss him too too much.  He then said that we could get a new kid and he’d go live with them.  Thanks Ajax.

Noomi seemed a bit concerned over the lack of her brother.  When Dave and I picked her up from school on Friday she immediately looked over at Ajax’s empty car seat and asked “Ajax?”  We went to seven stores on Friday looking for baby shoes, but no luck. Where on earth do people in Lansing do their shopping?  It’s maddening.

On Saturday, we bummed around did a little grocery shopping and while Noomi napped Dave and I did some quick freezer cooking and got 6 meals in the freezer and 2 meals of cooked ground beef with onions.

On Sunday, Noomi and I headed into Warren for a baby shower.  We stopped in Howell on our way there to buy some new shoes.  While pulling into the mall, I told Noomi we were going to get new shoes and she immediately lifted her foot, pointed to her shoe and said Shoe?! (though to be far it doesn’t really sound like “shoe” it sounds like a not so nice word that starts with “s”).   This little girl LOVES shoes.  I let her pick out her own shoes and she was quite happy.  When we got to the shower she was so well behaved.  She ate well and walked constantly, smiling and waving at people.   While we were gone, Dave and Ajax went hiking at their favorite Dragon Park.  Ajax told me before they left that he keeps all his dragons there.   Afterwards, he said they didn’t find any dragons this time, but they saw signs of dragons.  I guess after hiking they hit up McDonalds and Ajax was so tired it took him 45 minutes to eat lunch and when they got him he took a 2 hour nap.

Developments

(this post is from last week, it just never made it up, sorry for the delay!)

I apologize for the lack of updates lately.  My life has been taken over by an asylum case at work and preparing for Tough Mudder.  The family however is surviving and doing well!

On Friday when Dave and I picked up the kids from school, Noomi’s teacher informed us that she spent the whole afternoon in the toddler room.  She ate lunch with the big kids and even took a 2 hour nap on a cot.  They said she did great.  She loved going outside and playing, and the teachers walked her all over the place.  I took the news ok.  She is our little girl and she is getting so big, so fast, I cannot believe it.  She still isn’t walking by herself.  Dave thinks at 13 months she’ll be walking.  She is a great eater and has been using more and more words lately.  Her favorite right now is – What’s that?

Ajax has also been doing well (though both kids have a little cold, which seems to be going around).   He has been obsessed lately with watching Tractor Simulator’s on the Kindle.  Yes, tractor simulator is a computer/Nintendo game and he watches other people playing.  They go around and work – harvest wheat, plow a field, etc.  Ajax now tells us that he needs to go to his room to play tractor simulator and that he has a lot of work to do.  Per his account his entire room is a field.  He’ll ask you to come play with him, but when you go into his room, he won’t let you touch any of his tractors and tells you to just sit there, he’ll do the work. lol.  I believe he told me that I wasn’t plowing the “field” in a straight line, so I should just give him the tractor and he’d do it.

Dave and I have also been checking out various towns around Lansing, so that we can decide where we want to move soon.   We have explored Eaton Rapids, Dimondale, and Williamston.  So far, we love Williamston, they just don’t have a lot of inventory as it’s kind of rural.
