Monday

Last night Channel 2 predicted a light snow flurry over the course of the evening with about 1 – 2 inches by morning.   My alarm went off at 5:45 am; I promptly hit the snooze and overslept.  Dave was at the gym and therefore wasn’t home to make sure I was out of bed.  By the time Dave got home at 6:20 am, I was just getting a cup of coffee and turning on the morning news.  Apparently our top notch weatherman was a little off and we received a severe winter storm with several inches of snow.

Although Dave did not want me to go into work, I insisted and left the house at 6:50 am.  I then made it approximately four blocks from home before realizing that not one single snow plow had been out.  The roads were a mess and on top of that it was still snowing (on a side note, it’s 2:30 and still snowing).   I then admitted defeat and turned around and headed home.  I have therefore been home with Ajax today on this Snow Day.  I would like to thank Bev who had come over to watch Ajax today, only to hang out with me for a few hours before heading out!  Thank you!

Trying to get the door open.

Tots Day

I was off from work again today and was therefore able to stay home with Ajax and take him to his baby class!  We had such a good time, hardly any meltdowns.   Ajax played wonderfully with the other kids and was even content at times to play on his own.   He’s all about exploring and discovering new things.   The only real fit he threw was because I wouldn’t let him push this toy baby stroller on his own, as it wasn’t stable enough for him to balance and walk with and he kept toppling over.

There were other young moms there and I greatly enjoyed talking with them.   So it was a play date for both Ajax and myself!   We also got to stop and visit shortly with my grandpa Nader before heading home.

Ajax at his baby class riding a cow.
He was having a great time on the cow and then suddenly dove off the side!
The classroom is quite large and it's great that Ajax got to run (crawl) all over the place.
Ajax has discovered doors. You have to be careful because you will think that he's following you into/out of a room, and then you hear him laugh and realize he's closing the door...

Bird

Ajax has now added another “word” to his vocabulary!  My aunt has confirmed that Ajax now says- bird and can correctly identify a bird!  So, ok, it really comes out as- bee-er-Da… but that is clearly bird.   He can also identify fish (from my aunt’s fish tank), but has yet to try that word.   Yesterday my mom picked up Ajax from my aunt’s house around noon and babysat.  She also watched him in the evening while Dave and I did some quick running around.  Thank you!

Lately Ajax has not had much interest in playing solo, so here's a pic of him totally entertaining himself, of course, till I started snapping pics of him... not sure why I bothered him.

10 Months Old!

Ajax is ten months old today!  What a big boy!  I keep thinking that in April he’ll be a year old, how can I have been a mom for a year now?  Wasn’t I just pregnant?  I’ve actually already started thinking about his birthday party and baking him a “healthy” birthday cake… probably a carrot or apple spice cake.

Ajax was over Kristy’s house today and played with his cousins so much that he refused to close his eyes for his afternoon nap, by the time I got him home he could barely stay awake and crashed for an hour before dinner.  He doesn’t want to miss a thing.  It also looks like Ajax’s tooth is almost coming through and it seems (fingers crossed) like we’ve gotten by without another ear infection.

Dave is at the gym tonight and before bed Ajax walked (holding onto my hands) all around the house saying, da da?  He was looking for Dave!

Ajax managed to get his silkie out of his crib this morning and was trying to crawl around with it.  The problem was that he was having a hard time doing that, but refused to drop the silkie.  It was pretty funny watching him trying to crawl and open cabinet doors with it in hand.  The silkie is strictly a sleep thing and I don’t generally let him have it unless it’s bedtime/naptime, but really how could I take it away?

Ajax now gives "loves" to things. So cute.
This is now what my time in the kitchen looks like.

Tunnels

For the last two nights Ajax has been sleeping through the night and going to bed so very well, hopefully we’re back on track with his sleep schedule (hopefully).   Ajax had an exciting day today as my aunt took him to Caesars (which is similar to a Chucky Cheeses) with some friends and cousins, and he had a blast checking everything out and chowing down on pizza crusts.  What a little adventure baby.

I also think he has almost outgrown his baby purees as he’s been turning his head and pushing the spoon away.  He’s much more interested in the finger foods and the last few nights I’ve been giving him tastes of whatever Dave and I have had for dinner.  For example last night we had spaghetti with veggies and tonight it was french toast and eggs (we also made Ajax some sweet potato fries, his favorite).

Ajax also got a tunnel for Christmas from friends Mary, Jeff, and Darcy.  I thought maybe he would be afraid of it, but after setting it up and showing it to him he tore right through it and kept going back and forth, with me at one end and Dave on the other.  He had a blast.

Walking soon?

I really don’t think Ajax will be crawling for long.  The little guy is now pulling himself up on anything he can get his hands on and when you walk him, sometimes he lets go of one of your hands, using just one for support.  He’s also made a few steps of faith, by that I mean he has let go of one item to take a step toward another piece of furniture!  He of course fell over, but soon he’ll put it together.   He also has another little tooth (#3) coming in, it’s an upper central!

He now has this crazy smile often when he's tearing all over the place.
Like the dog, Ajax loves to wedge himself behind the recliner.

Coupon Trip!

I had to go to Rite Aid today and pick up Dave’s Z Pack, hopefully he’ll kick this flu soon.  While at Rite Aid I picked up a few things and just thought I’d share my savings!  I spent a total of $18.71 and will get $2.00 back from Rite Aid, but I saved $24.00!  (The Halls weren’t on sale but Dave needed them for his throat).  Yea!

On an Ajax note, the little guy appears to be doing much better today.  He’s a little more on track with his nap schedule and there was no screaming tonight for bedtime, awesome.

Spooky Scary

Ajax received this toy for Christmas, it’s a barnyard magnet set that goes on the fridge.  You can match up the animals and they make the appropriate animal noises and it sings a little song about the animal, very cute.  It also seems to have a motion sensor or something because when you open the door to the fridge the thing moos.  When we first put it up, Ajax was quite enthralled.  Now however, that interest has turned to fright.  He has never been afraid of anything before, but now when he goes near it he throws his arms around your neck and tries to scramble into your lap. I don’t mean to laugh, but it’s little funny, this cute barnyard cow mooing, is now totally frightening to him, odd?

Ajax is also now waving, though he seems to wave – hi, bye, bird, sky… no real rhyme or reason, lol.  He has also begun clapping a little, but not a lot.  Crawling really seems to have opened a door for the little guy as he just wants to explore, he wants to follow you around the house, and he really wants to crawl under things.

Playing with a kitchen thing.

Cruising

Dave took this video of Ajax cruising along the couch.  He really gets going!  Also another funny thing, last night Dave had to go check on Ajax who had started crying.  When Dave got down to his room, Ajax was asleep but on his hands and knees in the crawling position.  Dave said he was totally asleep but trying to crawl!  Sleep crawling!
