Today was a lake day. It was great. I’ve been complaining for a few weeks now about how I hadn’t been swimming all summer. We have family friends who have a house on a lake in Commerce Township (about 45 min. from our house) and after getting lunch with my parents we all headed up there. We had some BBQ, went swimming, played Rummikube, and all around had a good time. These were days that I remember having as a kid (as my family was a total water/boating/tubing/fishing family) and I cannot wait for Ajax to enjoy them as well… That is if he ever gets over his intense hatred of water. As his afternoon schedule was off I was a little concerned about how he would react, but he did great. He’s such a happy and easy going baby.

Batman
Has anyone seen the Celebrity Jeopardy skit on SNL? The one where Michael Keaton answered every question with – I am Batman. Anywho, from time to time Dave and I will say that line from SNL, thinking we are truly hilarious. The other night when we were joking around, Ajax, as a true Indish, started cracking up. He seems to think “Batman” is one of the funniest words he has ever heard. Sure we now sound a little odd walking around Target whispering- Batman- to our 4 month old, but I really could care less.

Second Video
I took this video tonight of Ajax playing in his chair. He’s gotten really coordinated and seemed to enjoy hitting the toy repeatedly… then of course he got frustrated.

The zoo
Ajax had his first trip to the zoo today. My aunt Terri took him along with several of my cousins (their kids) and aunts. Terri said they all had a great time and Ajax seemed to like it as much as a 4 month old could. He mainly dozed on and off throughout the experience.
Recovering
It seems this round of shots were a little rougher on Ajax than the 2 month ones. He’s been a little grumpy and hasn’t wanted to eat much. Poor little dude. He’s much better today and tomorrow I think he’ll be back to his old self.
Tonight we tried rice cereal again. After several spoon fulls he finally got the hang of it (as he kept pushing it back out with his tongue). I could tell that he just hated the stuff, but I think he was so intrigued with the texture and newness that he kept opening his mouth whenever I offered him another spoonful. He kept trying to grab the spoon so at one point I let him “feed” himself. He almost poked out his eye and nearly gagged on the spoon while trying to eat it and then flung cereal all over Dave and the couch before throwing the spoon. I think we need to pull out the real high chair and stop using Dave.
Doctors
Today Ajax had his 4 month checkup. Dave and I were able to get time off work so that we could both attend. As Ajax received 4 vaccines today, neither of us really wanted to take the little guy by ourselves. The Doctor said that Ajax was a very healthy kid and that we could start solids, beginning with rice cereal and then veggies.
He’s 17.2 lbs (putting him in the 90th percentile for weight) and 26 3/4 in (putting him in the 95th percentile for length). He’s a growing boy! So far he’s handling the vaccines very well, we’re keeping him on baby Tylenol and making sure he gets plenty of rest.
We went for a brief walk today and when we got home I thought, I’ll just stick his feet into the baby pool (as it’s ridiculously hot outside and the water was as warm as a bath). As soon as his toes hit the water Ajax started crying, give me a break kid!
Swim Swam Swum
Ajax has now rolled over twice, but refuses to do so when I have the camera. I’ll keep trying to document this, however, I have no proof of his achievement.
Yesterday we headed out to my parents house in Brooklyn. My mom, Dave, Ajax, and I then ran into Jackson and I was finally able to do a little shopping (yea!). I now have a few new shirts for work and a bag that I totally needed. There were also a few of my cousins out (with little kids of their own), so we had a full house. Ajax refused to nap and instead just wanted to watch all his cousins run around. This lead to a very cranky baby who got way overtired and over stimulated (as the other kids kept trying to hold him and make him laugh, which was fine, but after a few hours Ajax just had this glazed look to his face). I also got to play with the horses and walk some of the kids around on Frannie (my mom’s horse), which was a ton of fun as I haven’t spent any time with the horses since before I was pregnant.
We got home late last night and today we tried to get Ajax caught up on his sleep, so we only did a little running in the morning and hung out at home for the rest of the day. I had Dave fill up the baby pool in the morning (as it was in the 100s with the heat index) and took Ajax for a swim in the afternoon. He hated it and screamed throughout the ordeal. I don’t think this kid likes water… guess he takes after Dave, I love the water.
Four Months and Rolling
Ajax turned four months old today, what a big boy! He’s grabbing things with both hands, he holds onto your hands and stands up, he’s talking nonstop, and has definitely gotten the smile/chuckle down pat. Today for the first time he also rolled over. He went from his belly to his back. Dave and I jumped up so fast cheering that we startled both Ajax and Max, who came storming into the living to give things a once over. We tried to get Ajax to do it again, this time with the camera pointed directly at him, however, he was spent and having none of it. Oh well, at least both Dave and I were there to see it.
Maybury State Park
Today we took Ajax to the park. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to be outside enjoying it. We decided not to take Max, as unfortunately he has gotten to be quite the old man (honestly our last walk we took him on, I thought Dave was going to have to run home to get the car and come back for Ajax, Max, and I, as Max had about given up three blocks from home). Ajax loved the park. He loved it so much that he refused his bottle as he was too preoccupied checking everything out. And then he fought sleep so that he wouldn’t miss anything. He eventually lost that battle and was down for over an hour. This kid is very observant and wants to watch everything; he doesn’t want to miss a thing.
Dinner
Tonight we took Ajax out to dinner with my family (my parent, sister, and my sister’s new boyfriend). This was really our first time taking him to a grown up restaurant where I knew he wouldn’t sleep through the whole meal. We went to our favorite Chinese restaurant, which was nice as overall the place was pretty loud so no one noticed when Ajax started yell-talking. He did wonderful, he was smiley and very content checking everything out. I think he knew that he was getting a treat staying up a bit longer than normal. We got home by 8 pm (he’s normally in bed by that time). We did a quick bath, he protested a bit, then had a little bottle and was out like a light by 8:20. Smooth.
