Sleep training and the Hulk

To say that this was a stressful weekend (or more accurately month), may be a bit of an understatement, lol.  First Ajax was sick, than I was sick, than Dave was sick, and now Ajax is sick again, though he appears to now be on the rebound.  He’s still majorly congested, but that seems to be due to his teething more than anything else.  Because he’s been so under the weather lately we got a little off track with the sleeping, which means were starting sleep training all over again, which is stressful for everyone.

Ajax has also been into everything lately and wants to go everywhere and do everything.  He was actually playing in the bathroom and his hand slipped out and he hit his chin on the floor, sending his two teeth into his upper lip.  He then pulled himself up on his toy box and then promptly fell over hitting his forehead on it.  He then grabbed hold of his bedroom door and pulled it into his own face (so on and so forth). Excellent.  I actually have to take him back to the Doc. in 2 weeks to check his ear and the kid looks like he’s been through the ringer!

Oh and the hulk.  Well Ajax for some reason thinks that if he flexs every muscle in his body when he is in his car seat while making a loud grunting noise, that he will magically expel himself from the seat, thus setting him free to roam about the car.  Dave has labeled it- Ajax hulking.

Getting ready for bathtime.
Exploring under the side table in the living room, trying to reach the cord to the lamp. The lamp has now been removed from the table.
Playing in the kitchen.

Influenza and a Snow Blower

On Saturday morning I went to the Doctors and he happily informed me that I had the flu.  He prescribed a Z pack and called it a day.  It’s very hard to have the flu with a 9 month old around.  Ajax certainly doesn’t understand why I’ve been limiting my words or coughing nonstop.  Ajax has actually been feeling much better and had very few temper tantrums this weekend.  It is now safe to say that he is a crawler and has even pulled himself up on things.  He cruised all along the couch and chair and was very pleased with himself.   We definitely need to baby proof now.

My mom came in yesterday to help us out.  She watched Ajax, made chicken soup, and generally kept me company, while I acted like a large baby myself.  Dave shoveled the driveway and did laundry.  I had actually offered to buy Dave a snow blower for the past 2 years, but each year he turned me down.  This year, instead of giving him the option of a snow blower, we had to purchase a new dryer as ours died last week.   My dad and good friend, Jeff, picked it up and installed it so we can now do laundry.

Still all about walking. He actually took a little tumble and has a bump on his forehead.
Cruisin'
I tried to get a pick of the bump on his forehead and he has a bump above his eye too! Ah!
Our new dryer makes our washer look ancient. We got it with the house and it runs like a top!

Sunday

As I seem to say every Sunday evening- weekends are just to short.  At least with the holidays coming up Dave and I are fortunate enough to have a few days off, which will be lovely.

This weekend Ajax has been all about saying “ma ma”!  It must be his new word.  I still don’t know if he has associated da and ma with Dave and I, but we keep pointing at ourselves and announcing our titles.  He’ll get it soon.  He seems to know his name, so the concept has obviously taken hold that people have names or words that go along with certain people.

Ajax still isn’t crawling, but will roll and then do this worm type movement to scoot along the floor.  My mom lightly told us that we were making things to easy for him (i.e. if we keep handing him all this favorite toys, why on earth would he need to learn to crawl?).  She was right, I know I am constantly handing Ajax things he throws.  We tried to make more of an effort to get him to go after things and boy does he have a temper!

We couldn't save this gift from Ajax, so we thought what the heck. Ajax says thanks Aunt Terri and Uncle Jerry!
He also loved the paper.

Sunday

This was a bum around weekend, which was great.  We did minimal running and mainly hung at home.  You may have noticed the amount of posts this weekend, well that’s because Ajax rediscovered his naps.  For some reason Ajax has been refusing to nap at home, but will take legendary naps at my Aunts (we’re talking 2 hour naps!).  I have no idea what her secret is.

Anyways because of our extra time this weekend we cleaned and organized the basement, wrote out Christmas cards, did laundry, went shopping, put up the Christmas tree, and wrapped presents.  Today I also made a bunch of baby food.  I had actually bought all the stuff last weekend, but was to lazy to do anything with it.  So, in my freezer is- apples, lentils, sweat potatoes, and an avocado/banana blend.  I also made breakfast sandwiches for Dave, and with the leftover lentils made jutera, while Dave made a pot of chili for the week.

Ajax has already torn one of the gifts.
A bit of todays work. We actually had to run to the Dollar Store for additional ice cube trays.

Fish

I now know that when it comes to water Ajax definitely takes after me.   He is just a little fish in the bathtub.  He’s more courageous in the tub than on land when it comes to trying to crawl or reach items.  He’ll flop on his stomach and kick his feet, then push himself off the side of the tub, all while trying to drink the bath water.

He’s also started handing us things.  He’ll hand Dave his bath toy and then want it back immediately.  At dinner he pretended to hand me his strawberry then when I would hold my hand out for it, he’d pull it away and smile.  What a tricky fish.

My little fish.
