Today was a very sad day in our home. It was time and we had to put Max down. Considering the vet put Max on doggie hospice care over a year ago, no one thought he’d make it this long. As we adopted Max we were never 100% sure of his age, but from what we pieced together from the old owner it seemed he was about 13 years old. Dave and I had him since 2003, he was a member of our family and will be missed dearly.
Hard worker
Just thought I’d show you proof of what a happy little guy we have in the morning. When Dave and I are dragging our feet around the house getting ready for work, Ajax is sitting in his bouncy chair laughing and talking it up.
Comics
Well ladies and gentlemen Mr. Dave has completed his masterful zombie comic and I’m so very proud of him. I’ll include the link, however, it’s not for children.
On a baby note, we had a relaxing Sunday. We went visiting over my Grandpa Nader’s house and made some more baby food. Our Sundays are pretty low key generally as we’re mostly home bodies. There was talk of going grocery shopping and mowing the lawn, neither of which was accomplished.
Six
Ajax is 6 months old today, I can’t believe it. Seems like I was just pregnant, lol. The little guy is still growing and we had to get him a new big boy car seat. He’s fully able to sit up and play, and he can roll from his tummy to his back with no problem. He’s very vocal and chatters away incoherently. He hasn’t really gotten the finger food thing down yet, as I keep giving him little biscuits to hold and chew on, but he doesn’t seems to really know what to do with them. We had a low key day as the weather was cold and rainy, though we did manage to get one brief walk in when the weather broke this afternoon.
Yesterday (and Thursday), my parents babysat Ajax (and my Aunt Susie, thanks Aunt Susie! Thanks mom and dad!). And my mom stayed over Friday night so that Dave and I could go on a date. We did dinner and movie; we saw Zombieland as October is officially Zombie month in the Indish home.
Sophie
Can you tell which one of the toys below belongs to Ajax and which two are for the dog?
As a new mom I must walk around with a sign on my back saying “sucker.” I heard about this toy called “Sophie” and how it’s great for teething babies. Well all the moms were raving about it saying how it was the best little toy in the world. Well, of course I thought- Ajax needs a Sophie ASAP! So, I had Dave get online and order it; it arrives, I’m excited, Dave is skeptical (to say the least) and Ajax, well he doesn’t really seem to care one way or the other. I gave it to him during dinner and as soon as he threw it to the ground, Max pounced upon it (it even squeaks). I won’t even tell you what I paid for it. lol.
Laundry and Rain
I had the day off from work today so Ajax and I hung out at home. It was the perfect day for being home. It was cold and overcast outside and rained pretty much all day. . . I had planned on going grocery shopping, but we never left the house. Grandpa Rod and Grandma Dara sent home some veggies from their garden, so I took the day to turn some of it into baby food as Ajax loves squash. I’m also proud to say that I did laundry and clipped coupons (I even organized them in a little binder, but the trick will be for me to actually remember and use them at the store); Watch out Martha! Overall, Ajax and I had a great day. He seems to be quite the pro now at rolling from his tummy to his back, and sits up as long as he wants to. He still thinks its funny to just sort of fall back when he’s done sitting up and can’t figure out why we keep propping him back up.
Sinks and Church
This weekend we headed up north to Mikado to visit Dave’s family. We got there around 10:30 pm on Friday (Ajax slept the whole way up) and put the little guy right to bed and he was out all night long. He actually slept better up north than he has been at home… go figure? We also brought Max up so that he would have the opportunity to run around in the woods. Unfortunately, I think this will be his last trip up north as he’s not really doing so well. On Saturday we did the rounds up north and visited with Dave’s grandma Indish and aunts/uncles/cousin. On Sunday my mother in law, Dara, and Dave’s grandma Dingeldein took Ajax to Church, while Dave and I stayed home and bummed around. They said he did very good and only fell asleep once! Not bad for his first time in church. We had a great time seeing everyone.
Zombie Walk
I know- two posts, one night, crazy. But we’ll be out of town this weekend, so thought I’d hit ya with as much Indish family fun as you could handle. As I’m sure most of you know Mr. Dave is obsessed with zombies and yes, I have an unnatural fear of the undead. That being said, last year my husband dragged me to a Zombie walk in Ferndale. I invited friends, who ever so politely declined the invite for more sophisticated endeavors. Well, it’s almost that time again for this years walk and Dave is super pumped to bring Ajax. We may even dress him up as a baby zombie… in his stroller.

Girls
This morning I dropped Ajax off at Dave’s cousins house. His cousin’s wife usually watches Ajax once a week, however, this week and next she has him for two days. Anywho, they have two little girls and then she also babysits her niece. Ajax is the only little dude in a house full of girls. As soon as I brought him in the house all three girls descended on him to get a closer look. Kristy said he’s now getting used to having the girls hover over him (as they are “helping” watch him, lol). I bet he’s getting used to the attention- welcome to the rest of your life kiddo.
Shirts and Eating
Today I gave up on a bib as the kid insists on trying to pull them off during meal time.
I’ve also been looking at getting a convertible car seat for Ajax as he has about outgrown his infant car seat. For some reason I thought babies were in these infant car seats for like a year or something.
Dave is just getting over bronchitis, so we’re keeping a close eye on Ajax to be sure he doesn’t come down with anything. So far so good. We still plan on heading up north this weekend, so long as Dave is up for it (because my role on that 4 hr drive is to keep Ajax happy and then fall asleep).
